Acupuncture
What is Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a branch of Chinese Medicine and originated in China where it still features in mainstream healthcare, both as a stand-alone therapy and in combination with conventional western medicine. Chinese Medicine is the oldest, professionally practiced medicine in the world it has been researched, developed and refined for over 2000 years
How does it work?
In acupuncture extremely fine needles are inserted into selected meridian points on the body, much finer than needles used for injections or blood tests
The Treatment
On the first consultation a full case history will be taken, including medical history, lifestyle and diet. The Chinese tools of diagnosis use the tongue and pulse and these help to identify the cause of disharmony and indicate the most suitable treatment
The acupuncture points are carefully chosen to achieve maximum benefit with as few needles as possible, usually 1-5. The needles stay inserted for approximately 20 minutes
Who can Acupuncture help?
Many people come to acupuncture with specific symptoms. Some just feel generally unwell, but have no specific diagnosis. Others choose acupuncture to maintain good health, as a preventative measure or to improve a general sense of wellbeing
As classical acupuncture treats the person as a whole rather than a symptom in isolation, it can be effective for a range of conditions
